Fly
March 12, 2018
I asked a baby bird to teach me
how to fly.
He replied,
“You don’t learn to fly
by spreading your wings and soaring.
You learn to fly by falling,
crashing to the ground, over and over and over.
And you get back up and you try again,
until one day you’re soaring with the clouds.”
He took off, flapping his wings against the wind,
and I watched as it pushed him back to the ground.
He spread his wings again and flew
and I understood.
