“Consistency is Key”

Kylee Schecter

Wow, you’re the President of the Key Club? That’s SO COOL!

…but what will you do as President?

Consistency and dedication are the major factors colleges look for when looking into extracurriculars. Have you been in this organization for four years? What have you done specifically to make an impact within that club?

Being consistent with your active participation within your school makes you that much more attractive to colleges; it shows that you care and are willing to stick it out! Especially for us class of 23 and 24, who have dealt with online high school. If you managed to stick it out with a club during a completely virtual year, admissions officers can tell that you really love that club!

Let’s go back to our “Key Club” example; while that officer position is great to have, did you really do anything with it? Did you utilize it to start a community initiative? Or increase students’ involvement in that extracurricular? Using the opportunities, like officer positions, that you have at your fingertips shows admissions officers who you are and your true passions. Utilize that position and do something good for the club, or the school, or the local community. Show yourself, the people around you, and the people who will read your application what Key Club truly means to you.
