This month I will be interviewing one senior athlete from each fall sport in order to give our seniors a little spotlight. Savannah Blaser is one of our cheerleaders here at SBRHS. She is a very talented and fun person to work with. I played lacrosse with Savannah and let me say she is very gifted in the sports area. So let’s get into the interview and hear how cheerleading is going for Savannah.
What is the funnest part about cheerleading?
The funnest part about cheerleading are the games. I like how we get to do our makeup and dress up for the theme.
What is your favorite cheerleading event that you did this year?
The neon theme homecoming football game because a lot of people went and it was very colorful and bright. We all got to wear paint and it was fitting.
What is the hardest part about doing the sport?
The hardest part of cheerleading is the full outs. But the hard work and dedication is also tough because you know what you’re signing up for but at the same time no one wants to be dragged around and it can be hard sometimes.
What position are you in cheerleading?
In cheerleading I do tumbling.
What advice would you give to someone who is scared to try the sport?
Just work hard and try your best. If you show effort then that’s all that matters and that’s what coaches are looking for.
Is cheerleading something you want to continue doing after high school?
I think my path is more focused on coaching cheerleading rather than doing it. I want to major in elementary education so I want to focus more on teaching others.
