On December 5th, a beloved teacher had suddenly passed away. As a member of the Somerset Berkley community, Mr. Ramos had taught here for 25 years and has been an inspiration for many students and teachers alike.
He was a “beacon of light”, a “national pioneer”, a pillar of support, and a beloved member of this community.
As an engineering teacher, Mr. Ramos always stressed the importance of creativity, kindness, and patience. He was passionate about teaching his students and helping his community. As the adviser for SB’s Community Service Team, Mr. Ramos had also been constantly improving our community with various projects, which includes his works at South Elementary: consistently waterproofing the bridge, cleaning, and inspecting the ponds. Additionally, he also created the Butterfly Ice Skating Pond in Touisset for the members of his community.
Mr. Ramos was a very passionate individual who was said to have brought his passions everywhere. Whether it was at his job or in his home, he would always find ways to create something wherever he was. Engineering was one of his greatest passions which he had also used to improve his community.
Many of his students and colleagues have noted his sincerity, along with his consistent kindness and effort to understand those around him. He had a “heart of gold” and always cared about those around him. He had always radiated positivity and brightened the days of those around him. Although he was quiet, Mr. Ramos was very thoughtful and always had the most meaningful conversations with his peers.
Referred to as “Mother Goose”, Mr. Ramos had provided guidance to his students which he called “ducklings”. He wanted to take care of every individual and make them feel comfortable in his classroom. To these individuals, he served as their role model and someone who they will always look up to.
Although Mr. Ramos has embarked on his next journey, he will always be remembered as SB’s “light”, a role model, and a RAIDER. His influence will be everlasting in not only the ducklings that he had guided or his peers at SB, but also in the various creations he had made for this community.
